About Us

Liberty Sweeper

Quality Service, Trusted Expertise

At Liberty Sweeper, we believe in more than just selling vacuums—we believe in providing quality service, expert advice, and a personalized experience that big-box retailers and online sellers simply can’t match. Our journey began when we took over a 52-year-old family business that was closing its doors. With Bob’s 20+ years of experience in vacuum repair for his janitorial business, stepping into this new venture was a natural and exciting opportunity.

A New Home in Hermitage, PA

Originally located in Sharpsville, PA, we saw an increasing demand for our services and made the move to Hermitage. Though just a few miles away, this relocation made a world of difference for our customers—making us easier to find and improving foot traffic significantly. The response has been incredible, and we’re grateful to be part of a thriving community that values quality and service.

What Sets Us Apart?

At Liberty Sweeper, we take an “old school” approach to sales and customer service. We don’t believe in a buy, break, throw-away cycle. Instead, we want our customers to invest in vacuums that, with proper care, can last for generations. We still see vintage Kirby vacuums coming in for maintenance, accompanied by touching stories of family memories. Bob works diligently to provide fast and effective repairs, always striving to make things right if any issue arises.

Vacuums & Cleaning Solutions We Trust

We service all vacuum makes and models as long as parts are available. Our top residential brands include Sebo and Riccar, known for their durability and repairability. We also specialize in commercial vacuums such as CleanMax, Sanitaire, and Tornado, and we partner with Minuteman for large-scale cleaning solutions. Unlike big-box brands that quickly discontinue parts, we ensure that older models remain functional by utilizing parts from newer models whenever possible.

Common Vacuum Myths
One of the biggest misconceptions about vacuums is that they all clean the same. In reality, there is a significant difference between a store-brand vacuum and a well-engineered machine. Like any household appliance or vehicle, vacuums require regular cleaning and maintenance to function properly and last longer.

Memorable Customer Experiences

One of our favorite moments involved an early 1940s Hoover vacuum. A sweet customer asked us to perform maintenance on it, and when we arrived to pick it up, she had the original handwritten receipt, manual, and newspaper advertisement from when she first purchased it.

We’ve also been gifted vintage vacuums, like a Hoover Celebrity Vacuum in a wooden box, which now serves as a beautiful display piece in our shop.

These experiences make us proud “vacuum nerds” and reinforce our passion for what we do.

Meet Gracie – Our Shop Dog & Star Employee

Gracie, our beloved shop dog, is an essential part of the Liberty Sweeper experience. Originally a wedding gift for Bob and trained as a service dog, Gracie has a dual role—providing comfort and picking up items for her owner. Customers adore her playful and goofy personality. She loves tossing her toys in the air and leaping over vacuums, all while leaving behind plenty of fur—perfect for vacuum demonstrations! Many visitors stop by just to see her before even looking at vacuums, which brings us so much joy.
